PURPOSE OF DIVISION

The purpose of the Airport Communications Supervisor is to manage the day-to-day operational activities of the Airport Operations Center (AOC) for the Houston Airport System. The AOC supports daily operations at the William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) by providing efficiency through a single point of contact for operations, security, maintenance, and information/customer service. The purpose of this position is to maintain a safe and secure airport environment by supervising the daily operations of communications center personnel, identifying and anticipating concerns and security issues. The success of this role is highly dependent on the ability to make recommendations for operational policies, procedures and systems; supervises communications relating to operations, emergency, and airport security activities. This position requires compliance knowledge of FAR 139, TSA 1542 and other federal, state, local regulations related to the operations of the airport. Must be able to pass a criminal background check, obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances where required.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:


 * Coordinate information flow during emergency situations to appropriate personnel.
 * Monitor the activities of the communications section to ensure service delivery standards are met and comply with airport operating procedures.
 * Prepare work schedules to ensure that sufficient shift employees are available for workload demands. Monitors and documents attendance of employees.

Description Of Duties/Essential Functions

Provides comprehensive information on assistance and support services to victims and their families.

Responsibilities


 * Provides victims, and their families, with support, referrals and information on victim rights, the judicial process, community resources and programs.
 * Prepares reports by compiling statistics, reviewing data entered, and Report Management System supplements.
 * Develops and maintains a filing and tracking system covering cases worked, referrals, requests, agencies, and concerns.
 * Assists with filing Crime Victims’ Compensation Applications on behalf of those victims who qualify through the Texas Attorney General’s Office.
 * Network with local communities and agencies, victim services organizations, and task forces.
 * Deliver educational presentations for training and/or generating community interest and support.
 * Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc.

There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Requires a Bachelor's degree in a social or behavioral science, such as Sociology, Psychology, Social Work or Counseling.

Experience Requirements

Two years of professional experience in counseling or related social services work are required.

A Master's degree in a social or behavioral science may be substituted for the experience requirement.
