  Kinectrics has a growing portfolio of services supporting the development and deployment of new nuclear power plants and lead the life extension projects of existing nuclear power plants in Canada and around the world. As part of our growing design team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the design of Instrumentation and Control systems and/or components both in the traditional nuclear market, and in new initiatives to develop nuclear technology. The successful candidate will be working within a multi-discipline engineering team mainly supporting the design engineering team located in Durham Region. The role is within the OPG Site Engineering (Electrical, Instrumentation &amp; Control) section, which is focused on leading projects at various OPG sites, e.g. Pickering, Darlington, etc. The role will be engaged in either refurbishment projects and/or new build projects led by Kinectrics OPG site services team.

  To deliver instrumentation &amp; control engineering expertise to power generation utilities and other customers. The specific accountabilities of the position are as follows:

  <li>Provide input and direction to the development of conceptual/detailed equipment designs as they progress through a structured design process.</li> 
  <li>Provide technical oversight and mentoring of more junior members of the Engineering team.</li> 
  <li>Provide a high level of expertise in one or more specific areas related to electrical/I&amp;C engineering, e.g., control instrumentation assessment/design/specification of equipment and components, electrical power generation and distribution. </li>
  <li>Strong knowledge of control system design, analysis and equipment including control computers, PID controllers, Digital Control System (DCS), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), advanced control theory etc.</li> 
  <li>Interface with construction/procurement partners and utility stakeholders, throughout the lifecycle of the design project (<i>i.e.</i>, from preliminary and conceptual engineering to detailed design, implementation and close-out) to provide practical and effective solutions as per requirements.</li> 
  <li>Provide field support to multi-disciplined plant design modifications, including provision of field engineering. </li>
  <li>Provide technical guidance/direction on projects and act as design team lead where appropriate. </li>
  <li>Understand and assess client problems and determine appropriate means of solution.</li>

  <li>A Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Electrical/I&amp;C Engineering (or equivalent) is required. </li>
  <li>A period of 5+ years relevant experience is considered necessary.</li> 
  <li>A Professional Engineer of Ontario (PEO), or eligible for PEO status, with a passion for engineering. </li>
  <li>Experience with projects related to heavy industry, nuclear refurbishment, new build design or SMR design experience is required.</li> 
  <li>In depth knowledge and experience of use of appropriate codes and standards (e.g. N299 and CSA N286), as applied to nuclear plant and conventional plants. </li>
  <li>Experience in control system theory, analysis and design is required</li> 
  <li>Experience in project management and interfacing with and coordinating activities of multi-disciplinary teams </li>
  <li>Knowledge and experience working with nuclear power plant systems &amp; processes(Bruce Power, OPG, NB Power or other), e.g. Engineering Change Control is an asset.</li> 
  <li>Good time management skills and demonstrated capability to interface effectively with and gain the trust of station customers.</li> 
  <li>Good understanding of nuclear power plant design and operation.</li> 
  <li>Experience in leading technical projects to successful conclusion.</li>
