We use Impact Litigation, Pipeline Education Programs, and Community Engagement & Advocacy as strategies to execute our work: 

Our impact litigation cases have helped Latinos access educational, employment and housing opportunities, as well as voting rights. Our legal work has also defended Latinos against unlawful law enforcement tactics and hate crimes. 

Our pipeline education programs provide Latino students with access and resources to pursue a law degree and other higher education that paves the way for professional success and community leadership. 

Our community engagement and advocacy initiatives ensure that Latinos participate in daily civil life - such as elevating their voices on issues that matter, such as voting, workers's rights, immigrants rights and criminal justice reform. In sum, to be active members and leaders in their communities. 

LatinoJustice PRLDEF has served tens of thousand of US citizens, immigrants, and non-Latinos whose rights are protected by the precedents set and behaviors modified through the litigation, advocacy, and legal education outreach of our organization.

You must be a law student (JD/LLM) with social justice experience, strong legal skills, coursework in relevant areas, and analytical abilities. Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.

 LatinoJustice PRLDEF (LJP) seeks a dynamic, creative, and committed Legal Intern to advance civil rights litigation, policy advocacy, and coalition-building in our Southeast Regional Office (SEO) in Orlando, Florida. The position requires a strategic thinker with demonstrated proficiency in LJP’s priority issues (pillars), including economic justice, immigrant rights, voting rights and redistricting, criminal justice reform (prisons and policing), and issues specific to Puerto Rico. The position will also assist the LJP legal staff in developing and implementing a range of strategies to infuse and advance a movement lawyering practice in all LJP’s work, including through research, advocacy, community engagement and education, coalition building, and strategic communications.  Recent LatinoJustice Southeast cases and projects include: (1) Rivera Madera et. al. v. Lee, VRA Section 4e voting rights language assistance litigation v. 30+ local county Boards of Election which resulted in several favorable preliminary orders and eventual case settlement after Florida had adopted state-wide language assistance regulations; (2) DaSilva v. USCIS, a MAVNI citizenship delay case where our client, a Brazilian LPR serving in the army was able to become a United States citizen; (3) Caban v. Georgia DDS, obtaining successful settlement reforming Georgia’s driver’s license eligibility regulations for Puerto Ricans who had relocated to Georgia; (4) co-led Amendment 4 campaign in Florida to restore the right to vote to millions of formerly incarcerated individuals; and, (5) Cada Voto Cuenta, a non-partisan campaign aiming to overcome the barriers for limited English speaking voters.
