We have multiple openings for undergraduate level students to engage in practical research to further their educational goals. The areas you may research will support United States (US) policy and decision makers in developing strategies for national and international security. Global Security (GS) applies multidisciplinary science and technology to anticipate, innovate, and deliver responsive solutions to complex global security needs. Job Description

June 23, 2025 - September 12, 2025

We have multiple openings for our Undergraduate summer internship program in data science. Our openings are for undergraduate level students to join the Data Science Summer Institute (DSSI). If you are graduating with your bachelor’s degree this summer, then apply to the Data Science Summer Institute Graduate Student Intern position instead. The DSSI is a 12-week summer internship program and selected interns will be given the opportunity to engage in practical research to further their educational goals. The selected interns will work in the data science field and provide technical and/or research support to projects in the area of Machine Learning, Statistics, High Performance Computing, and other related fields. This is an on-site internship; attendance in person is required.

You will

Work with scientists, engineers and technical staff members to provide technical and/or research support to projects in the areas of computational science, numerical methods, mathematics, or other related fields.
Under close supervision, will participate in research in assigned area.
Gather and analyze data and information in support of scientific research.
Attend data science related short course, meetings, and participate in a data science challenge.
Participate in research planning and evaluation discussion.
Attend relevant seminars and participate in DSSI related courses, meetings and events.
Present one seminar or poster on your research project.
Perform other duties as assigned.
