Norcon, Inc. is a mid-sized construction management firm located in downtown Chicago. Founded in 1999 by two young entrepreneurs, Norcon has established itself as a leader in today’s progressive construction industry. Their diverse history of projects includes commercial, retail, educational, pharmaceutical, hospitality, religious and high end residential. Though much of their work is in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, Norcon has traveled to over a dozen states to complete projects for clients. They manage all aspects of construction from the initial preconstruction phase through final completion. Norcon is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council and recently completed construction of their own office building which achieved LEED Gold Status and received SERF (Society of Environmentally Responsible Facilities) certification. In 2006, Norcon was the construction management firm selected in Chicago to build for ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

You will assist in bid solicitation, perform quantity takeoffs, manage submittal logs, track project correspondence, support change order pricing, and aid in project closeout tasks.

 Norcon has Internships available for Engineering or Construction Management students, considering a career in Project Management. As an intern, you will gain experience in all aspects of our projects from preconstruction through closeout.
 This Internship requires working onsite at the Norcon office or corresponding jobsite.
 PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

 <li>Assist with preparing project subcontractor bid list</li>
 <li>Solicit and obtain bids from subcontractors through bid software and verbal outreach</li>
 <li>Perform quantity takeoffs for all trades related to constructing a project</li>
 <li>Assist with preparation of scopes of work and review with subcontractors</li>
 <li>Review and prepare submittals and generate RFI’s</li>
 <li>Maintain and prepare submittal and RFI logs</li>
 <li>Generate and track ROJ logs</li>
 <li>Generate and track QAQC lists</li>
 <li>Assist with preparing pricing for change orders</li>
 <li>Develop, distribute, and track all correspondence related to the project documents – drawings, sketches, specifications, addenda bid RFI responses, submittals, etc.</li>
 <li>Assist with project closeout such as compiling O&amp;M manuals, distributing close out letters and tracking punch list items to completion</li>
 <li>Other duties as assigned</li>
 </ul>
 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
 <ul>
 <li>Currently pursuing bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field</li>
 </ul>
