Working with the Biodiversity Officer and the Greenwood Community Forest team, the role offers an exciting opportunity to gain experience in the practical application of using GIS to inform landscape scale woodland conservation across Nottinghamshire. You would also be supporting the wider conservation work of the Biodiversity Action Group.
The internship is open to candidates studying at a Nottinghamshire-based University, or for applicants who are normally residents in Nottinghamshire but studying outside the county, and who are studying for an environment-related degree. This includes both students who will graduate in 2025 and those on courses with a placement year.
The ideal candidate must have a keen interest in wildlife, be happy working both from home and in an office environment and have a willingness to work some anti-social hours. A driving licence and use of a vehicle is desirable but not essential.

You will support the Elective Home Education team by managing tasks, communicating effectively, prioritizing work, and ensuring compliance with GDPR while working hybrid and collaborating with remote teams.

This team works alongside Education Access, Standards and Safeguarding colleagues who are responsible for providing education provision to children within Nottinghamshire. The work of this team is high profile and fast-paced and is key to supporting families who educate their children at home and not in a school setting and to meet all legislative requirements around this work. Currently these teams support the education outside of school settings with over 2000 pupils currently registered.
You will have a professional and confidential approach to the work, will be a strong team player, be organised, able to use initiative, prioritise work and problem-solve. You will have good listening and communication skills, experience of using MS Teams, Microsoft Office packages (e.g. Word, Outlook, Excel and SharePoint), an eye for detail and the ability to handle confidential information in line with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). Full training will be provided either face to face or over MS Teams. You will understand that this is a challenging role but ultimately rewarding and will help to build on your already excellent approach to teamwork and customer service.
