 Progressive Design, Inc. is currently seeking an entrepreneurial spirited Senior Mechanical Engineer/Project Manager. This is a full time/direct hire position located in Midlothian, Virginia- (Richmond, VA area).
 
 Key Requirements &amp; Responsibilities:
 <ul>
 <li> Responsible for performing engineering duties on assigned projects including equipment specifications, process piping, material handling and conveying, HVAC, and other mechanically related engineering and design.</li>
 <li> Manage the engineering and design process from inception to completion. This includes: leading projects, work planning, directing and overseeing designers and engineers assigned to your projects, design reviews (both internal and with client), and checking deliverables (calculations, drawings, technical reports)</li>
 <li> Mechanical Engineering undergraduate degree from an ABET accredited school</li>
 </ul> Job Responsibilities:

 <li> Direct customer interface and coordination</li>
 <li> Develop study reports, bids, proposals, scopes of work, P&amp;IDs, estimates, schedules, material lists, design concepts, scope change documents, correspondence, and other project documentation per customer and corporate guidelines</li>
 <li> Manage scope, schedule, and budget</li>
 <li> Manage the engineering and design process from inception to completion. This includes: leading projects, work planning, directing and overseeing designers and engineers assigned to your projects, design reviews (both internal and with client), and checking deliverables (calculations, drawings, technical reports)</li>
 <li> Exercise innovative cost efficiency approaches in the project design to reduce construction costs and increase productivity</li>
 <li> Size and specify typical process equipment such as pumps, tanks, chemical reactors, heat exchangers, chillers, condensers, mixers, etc.</li>
 <li> Perform calculations to size and specify process, service and utility piping systems</li>
 <li> Perform calculations to size and specify safety relief devices</li>
 <li> Review equipment submittals for accuracy and validate against specifications</li>
 <li> Maintain familiarity with various industrial codes such as ASME and API</li>
 <li> Visit customer sites for field work</li>
 <li> Assist in commissioning and start up</li>

 <li> 10+ years of heavy industrial experience in a design or project engineering role.</li>
 <li> Virginia Professional Engineer preferred but not required</li>

 <li> Project management experience</li>
 <li> Experience working in a multidiscipline engineering consulting firm</li>
 <li> Process safety experience (PHAs, HAZOPs, Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, Inherently Safer Design, Documentation to support process safety, etc.)</li>
 <li> Current working knowledge of safety relief device code requirements, calculations, sizing and system design procedures</li>
 <li> Current working knowledge of mechanical engineering principles with an emphasis on fluid mechanics, mass and heat transfer, and thermodynamics</li>
 <li> Working knowledge of incorporating safety, maintainability, constructability, and operational requirements into the design process</li>
 <li> Must be technically sound, and be willing to mentor junior engineers</li>
 <li> Strong communication and organizational skills</li>
 <li> Strong ethics and corporate loyalty</li>
 <li> Must be results oriented</li>
 <li> Must be a team player</li>
