About

Join us for an empowering panel event, “Beyond the Glass Ceiling: Women’s Impact in Business and Finance,” hosted in partnership with GAIN - Girls Are INvestors. 💼🚀 📅: Wednesday 21st February 🕒 &📍: 6-8pm at Adam Smith Building (old) Room 915 Dive deep with leading women professionals who are reshaping the landscape of business and finance. From barrier-breaking strategies to inspirational success stories, get ready to explore how women are not just reaching but exceeding beyond the glass ceiling. 🌈 With us will be guest speaker Laura Lee Laura is the Head of Strategic Client Governance at Abrdn, supporting the management of £150bn+ of client assets. Before Abrdn, Laura spent 11 years at Citi Global Transaction Services in Edinburgh, leading a Fund Accounting Team before moving into a Client Executive position as a Vice President where she managed strategic client relationships. She began her career in Finance in 2004 as a summer intern at Citi in London, working in the Fixed Income Derivatives Team within the Product Control function. Given Laura’s career roots, she has a natural affinity and passion for early careers support, mentorship, and talent development. She has held the position of Client Group Stream Head at Abrdn for the graduate, trainee and intern programme for the last 2 years where she has onboarded and managed 20+ individuals through the programme. Recognising the importance of supporting the local community, Laura sits on the board of Trustees of a small children’s charity in her hometown of Dunfermline where she contributes to the charity's governance, strategic planning, and decision-making processes. Our second speaker is Amie MacGruer: Amie has 19 years of experience in the asset management industry, starting her career with Standard Life Investments, now Abrdn, in 2005. Amie is the Head of Performance Analytics, with her team being responsible for objectively measuring and benchmarking all of Abrdn’s investments. Outside work Amie is Trustee of Pinkie Out of School Club and Treasurer for the charity. Amie holds a MA(Hons) in Mathematics from the University of Glasgow. There will be a space with Q&A where you can ask your own question to any of the guest speakers. See you there! #WomenInBusiness #Empowerment #CareerGrowth #InvestInWomen
