Description

The Telegraph Media Literacy Programme aims to provide a deeper insight into what it’s like to be a journalist, the importance of trusted and responsible news, and how we pull our news together every day across the newspaper, website and app. The programme will help you explore the different roles across the newsroom and provide information on how to get into a career in media and journalism.

Content:

Lots of talks, presentations and activities involving editors from the worlds of sport, beauty, travel, politics, music, video, Snapchat etc. Each week you will be set a journalism challenge to complete, which will relate to what you have learnt in the session. A journalist will look at all of the entries and the best entry each week stands to win a voucher from Amazon or ASOS.

When:

The online programme will run for four weeks, beginning on Tuesday 7th March 2023. Sessions will run from 4 - 5pm every Tuesday.

Completing the programme:

If you take part in all four sessions, you will receive a Telegraph Media Literacy Journalism Certificate. This will help with your CV and career planning. You also have the option to join our future talent pool to stay up to date with opportunities at the Telegraph.

How to apply:

If you'd like to apply please include a cover letter along with your application, we would like you to write 100 words on why you would like to take part.

Please ensure to use your school email address, and to state the name and location of your school. When submitting your application, please provide the contact details of a teacher or youth zone representative.

Your school and yourself will be notified of next steps once your application has been reviewed.
