UCL Turkish Society Career Talk with Dr Mark Kristiansen

Mark is an Associate Professor at University College London (UCL). He studied in Liverpool, Munich and London before completing his PhD in Clinical Neuroscience at UCL. He is currently based at the UCL Great Ormond Institute of Child Health and is the Head of UCL Genomics, a core facility located within the Zayed Centre for Research into Rare Disease in Children (ZCR). As an innovative educator and entrepreneur, he is also the Director of the Global Academy for Genomics and Personalised Medicine and has major interests in global and equitable education programmes, patient advocacy, public engagement as well as running his research themes and academic postgraduate programmes at UCL. He was awarded his Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in 2018 and has won global awards in education, personalised medicine and public/scientific communication. He is the Director of the MSc Personalised Medicine and Novel Therapies at UCL and a visiting professor at University of Cagliari, Italy as well as a Scientific Advisor to the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi. He has worked with former UCL students in setting up successful start-ups and has a comprehensive background working in and with industry.
