  • Educational Experience/Requirements:
  • Preferred Major(s): Business, Human Resources, Law
  • Preferred Level of Education: College sophomore and above
  • Required enrollment status: Full-time (as defined by your academic institution) in a degree program at an accredited college or university
  • Physical Requirements:
  • The demands associated with the normal office environment
  • Must be able to comply with office policy to work on-site twice per week
  • Light physical activity, including walking outdoors and climbing stairs
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong Microsoft Office and computer skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Good analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Good organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Good project management skills

Responsibilities

  • In this role within the General Counsel department’s Labor Relations unit, interns will:
  • Assist the department in administration of grievance, arbitration, and negotiation process to help Labor Relations meet deadlines as stated in Union/CTA Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Prepare analysis for department needs.
  • Research complex areas around Labor Relations (such as prior arbitration decisions) for the CTA.
  • Assist with investigation of grievances and provide necessary administration support including reviewing and summarizing arbitration awards, settlement agreements, and organizing files as needed.
