Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program with a focus on research or data analysis, especially in a social science field
  • Ability to apply various research methodologies and tools to investigate complex research questions
  • Ability to search for and summarize research articles and other relevant literature
  • Some knowledge and interest in data analysis and reporting
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Interest in collaborating with multiple groupsand personnel across HGA’s interdisciplinary teams
  • Strong GPA and involvement in student and/or industry organizations
  • Desire to learn about built environment architectural research
  • Course work or previous experience in environmental or design research
  • Proficient statistical analysis skills, especially related to survey data
  • Previous experience with software and tools to support collection and analysis of data, especially Qualtrics, NVivo, Excel, or R
  • Previous experience with software and tools to support data visualization and reporting, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, or InDesign

Responsibilities

  • Help conduct design research studies across a range of market sectors, including Healthcare; Arts, Community, and Education; Science and Technology; and Public Corporate
  • Work closely with HGA’s Design Researchers to collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data and create presentations or reports of study findings
  • Conduct literature reviews on evidence-based design topics
  • Assist with creating research collateral and marketing materials
  • Learn about human-subjects research and obtain any necessary ethics training or certification
  • Participate in regular research and DIG team meetings and workshops
  • Participate in HGA’s Intern program, including learning opportunities about HGA’s departments and services and social activities with employees and other summer interns
