Responsibilities

  • Financial markets are constantly changing, and the skillsets required to succeed are no exception. Quantitative analyst is a far-reaching term which ranges from research and programming, to advanced algorithms that operate in extremely competitive marketplaces. These key aspects also extend to applying financial modelling techniques to help make the best trading decisions
  • On the trading desks, traders are expected to blend the understanding of models with an informed view of markets, often using automated algorithms to make trades. On the more analysis focused desks, analysts are expected to work with the trading desks to build solutions to client demands, working on projects from idea inception and solution design, through to implementation. These desks can work with algorithms used for agency trading by clients or principal trading desks involved in trading with clients using an internal book. Quantitative analysts make use of technical fields including mathematics, statistics, probability theory, machine learning, and data science.
  • Interns in the quantitative summer analyst program will assist in building models used for trading, evaluating, and improving existing models to adapt to ever changing market conditions. Interns will learn and work with key concepts related to trading such as risk management, market impact, market making, and finding market signals. Interns will have a hands-on project using the latest techniques from both the industry and academia, to address real business issues.
