Requirements

  • Required Education:
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree
  • Required majors:
  • Molecular Biology or equivalent field with emphasis in Virology and/or Microbiology
  • Other Preferred Qualifications:
  • Hands on experience with PCR, qPCR, RT-PCR, qRT-PCR and molecular biology techniques is preferred.
  • Experience handling microbial DNA, RNA, and clinical specimens preferred.
  • Experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) may be helpful, but is not required.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performs digital PCR, qPCR and qRT-PCR experiments using sophisticated diagnostic instruments (e.g. Roche cobas ® 4800, 6800 and 8800).
  • Performs experiments with infectious microorganisms and clinical specimens using aseptic technique and universal safety precautions.
  • Performs DNA and RNA purification with commercial kits.
  • Analyzes experimental qPCR and sequence data using sophisticated software.
  • Records data in electronics notebooks and reports findings to supervisor and in department presentations.
  • Performs work according to internal safety guidelines and procedures.
