What is the UberSTAR internship program?
The UberSTAR internship program is a paid student internship initiative designed to promote equal opportunity, inclusion, and access in tech, specifically targeting women and underrepresented groups, including but not limited to Black, Hispanic, Native American individuals, students with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and Veterans.
Who is eligible to apply for the UberSTAR internship?
This program is open to all first or second-year students enrolled full-time in a community college or university, regardless of race, gender, or ethnicity. Students transferring from a community college into a four-year program are also eligible to apply.
What qualifications are required to apply for the internship?
Applicants must be actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, have completed an introductory Computer Science course, be a first or second-year student at the time of application, possess basic programming experience in one or more application or systems languages (such as Go, Python, Ruby, Java, C/C++), and must be a member of the 2024 Uber Career Prep Program for consideration.
Are there any preferred qualifications for the UberSTAR internship?
Yes, preferred qualifications include proven software engineering experience through previous internships, work experience, coding competitions, or publications; experience building tools/infrastructure; a desire to be part of a team that delivers impactful results; a dedication to writing understandable, maintainable, and reusable software; a desire to deliver and a strong sense of accountability for work; and a willingness to learn new languages and methodologies.
What is the hourly wage for the UberSTAR internship?
The base hourly rate for this role is USD $46.00 per hour, applicable to various locations including New York, NY; San Francisco, CA; Seattle, WA; and Sunnyvale, CA.
