Requirements

  • - An exciting opportunity has arisen to become an apprentice respiratory physiologist within Clinical Investigations Unit (CIU).
  • - The successful applicant will be supported to gain their degree and attend Sheffield Hallam University on a block release basis.
  • - The successful applicant will study at Sheffield Hallam.
  • - This is a 3 year course and you will gain your BSc (Honours) in Healthcare Science - Respiratory Physiology.
  • - When not attending University the success applicant will be based at RLI but will be required to undertake part of their duties at Furness General Hospital (FGH) and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in order to ensure patients received their tests in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • - Learn and gain competencies in sleep, spirometry, Fractional exhaled Nitric oxide (FeNo), and full lung function
  • - Undertake Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP)
  • - Work full time within CIU undertaking diagnostic tests
  • - Provide excellent care to patients
  • - Attend Sheffield Hallam University on a block release basis
  • - Study professional practice, anatomy and physiology, fundamentals of healthcare science, and healthcare science in context
  • - Learn scientific basis of healthcare science: cardiovascular science and respiratory and sleep science
  • - Study research methods and pathology of common cardiac and respiratory conditions
  • - Learn instrumentation signal processing and imaging, respiratory and sleep physiology
  • - Apply advanced specialist topics in respiratory sleep sciences in practice
  • - Complete a research project
  • - Be based at RLI when not attending University
  • - Undertake part of duties at Furness General Hospital (FGH) and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH)
