  • We are seeking highly-motivated students to join our Natural Resources Discipline in our Houston, TX office during Summer 2024.
  • You will serve as part of a crew that is collecting relevant data during the course of a cultural resources survey. This data includes but is not limited to, presence/absence of cultural material, soil types, textures and colors, stratigraphic profiles, and surrounding conditions. The successful candidate must be able to perform repetitive, manual labor in a variety of conditions. This person will be under the supervision of a crew chief but must be able to follow directions and perform duties independently as necessary.


  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related program.
  • Must have reliable transportation to the office.
  • Basic understanding of AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possess solid problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work in a high-paced environment.
  • Strong computer literacy, to include MS Office.

Area of Responsibilities



  • Our interns will assist technical staff on day-to-day projects.
  • Perform Phase I level surveys including reconnaissance and shovel testing.
  • Collect relevant field data and prepare necessary digital documentation.
  • Employ basic knowledge of soil types and topographic features when conducting survey.
  • Identify cultural features and/or material in the field.
  • Utilize basic artifact knowledge to make general date and type assessments of artifacts in the field.
  • Delineate archaeological and/or architectural sites.
  • Complete required field forms including but not limited to – daily job reports, shovel test forms, site forms, PRA forms, etc.
  • Assist with Phase II or Phase III archaeological investigations under the direct supervision of field director or Principal Investigator.
  • Set up and help maintain project files and records.
  • In addition to the work-centered program, we also offer robust internship programming, which includes opportunities to work with other interns, learn about other areas of the business, and develop valuable communication skills and networking connections.
