  • We are seeking a highly motivated, personable, and organized emerging professional to work with our team of architectural historians. You will be working with a multi-disciplinary team in the office and at project site locations. This position may require some overnight travel and working at field sites. You will work directly with Stantec’s historians, field team leads, and technicians, in addition to being assigned a mentor who will work one-on-one with you.

  • Strong work ethics and integrity
  • Good driving record and valid driver’s license
  • Ability to navigate on the road and in the field in remote settings
  • Education and Experience:
  • Enrolled in an accredited university or college and pursuing a degree in Architectural History, History, Historic Preservation, or a related field
  • Experience with MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, and Word)

Architecture & Urban Planning


  • Research and develop historical contexts
  • Prepare written architectural descriptions and evaluations of significance
  • Perform fieldwork tasks, including photographing resources, and using tablets for data collection
  • Conduct archival research online and at libraries and repositories
  • Prepare inventory forms and technical reports
  • Support consultation with state, federal, and local agencies
  • Additional duties may include support for local and National Register of Historic Places nominations, historic preservation plans, historic structure reports, cultural resource education materials, Historic American Buildings Survey/Historic American Engineering Record (HABS/HAER) documentation, planning and implementing of mitigation, and other types of special projects
