Requirements

  • The ideal candidate would possess the following skillsets:
  • Experience with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil3D.
  • Ability to apply theory in a practical setting.
  • Basic understanding of Civil and Structural Engineering fundamentals.
  • Exposure to hydraulics, water resources, public water systems, transportation, geotechnical, and/or related civil engineering subjects would be advantageous.
  • Exposure to building design and construction would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and Outlook.
  • Able to balance studies and workload.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Organized and able to meet deadlines.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing situations and deadlines.

  • Currently enrolled in an ABET accredited Bachelor of Science program with a focus in Civil Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing cost estimates, reports, and technical memos.
  • Employ your AutoCAD and Civil 3D talents to create drawings for construction including plan views, elevations, profiles and details.
  • Detailed design and review of civil engineering systems.
  • Prepare meeting agenda and minutes.
  • Assist in quality control reviews of designs.
  • Preparation of civil procurement specifications.

This will be a part-time position consisting of 20 – 30 hours per week during the summer.

The intern will work closely with and in support of project managers, professional engineers, and skilled technicians/technologists to coordinate and implement a wide variety of civil engineering solutions and project goals.
