Requirements

  • Students should be at least junior level majoring in Meteorology or Atmospheric Sciences at an accredited University
  • Interested in pursuing a career in Broadcast Meteorology or weather/climate communications
  • A self-starter that is engaged in the weather and/or climate media landscape
  • A regular TV Weather watcher and/or reader of weather articles in local and national media
  • Some experience with TV weather graphics (either in school or a previous internship) or have written science-related articles in a non-academic setting strongly preferred
  • Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship (proof of enrollment required)
  • Must be a rising Junior or Senior Undergrad (18 years or older)
  • Must be in academic good standing (3.0 or above cumulative GPA)
  • Warner Bros. Discovery will only consider candidates who are presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and who will not require work visa sponsorship from Warner Bros. Discovery now or in the future in order to retain their authorization to work in the United States. Candidates currently on any student or exchange visa, including F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1, etc., will not be eligible for the internship program.

Responsibilities

  • ​Students would work with both domestic and international weather, as well as our digital platforms, and will have the opportunity to:
  • Participate in the production of on-air weather content
  • Research weather and science related stories, and provide information to on-air talent
  • Learn weather graphics software and build elements for on-air use
  • Have the ability to record a demo reel
  • Help create online content for use by CNN.com and other CNN online platforms
  • Participate in breaking weather and other related breaking news stories
