Application Process

  • Stage 1: Online application:
  • Complete an online application form – you’ll be asked to answer a motivational competency question and upload your CV.
  • In our commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, we operate an anonymised shortlisting process. Please therefore ensure that you have completed the work history section of the application form in full and that you have answered all application questions, as this is the information we will be using to shortlist. CVs are required to be uploaded for all applications, as they will be collected for use later in the process.
  • Stage 2: Assessment:
  • If your initial application is successful you will then be invited to complete our new situational judgment test. The test poses real life scenarios that a CRUK intern might be met with in their day to day role and asks how you would tackle that scenario. This is un-timed and multiple choice. Please let us know if you think you might require adjustments for this assessment.
  • Stage 3: Audio Submission:
  • If you are successful in the previous stage, you will be asked to complete an audio submission, answering competency-based questions. The questions will be emailed to you and you will have a few days to submit a response via an audio recording (no video required).
  • Stage 4: Interviews:
  • If you are successful in the previous stage, you will then be invited to a face-to-face interview at our head office with representatives from the team you are applying to.

Benefits

  • Flexible Working

We encourage a flexible working culture, including options such as home-working, reduced or flexi-hours, job shares, job-splits, compressed and core hours. We offer a high level of flexibility for the vast majority of our office-based roles, meaning that you’ll only be required to work from a specific location for 1 or 2 days a week on average.

  • Income Protection and Life Assurance

We provide all staff with free insurance policies, paying 50% of your salary if you are unable to work through illness, and up to 4 times your salary for your beneficiaries should the unthinkable happen and you die while in our employment.

  • Pension

Our Retirement Plan is worth up to 12% of salary and offers all employees a flexible way to build a pension fund, no matter which stage of your career you’re at. You’ll be given choice, control, financial benefits and valuable protection benefits. It is a defined contribution plan, which means contributions paid into the plan by you and by Cancer Research UK are invested in the funds you choose—you can have as little or as much control over this as you want.

  • Payroll giving

We offer all employees a way to support any charity of their choice tax-free through their salary. Payroll Giving is a very effective way of supporting causes close to your heart: A £10 monthly donation will only cost you £8 as a standard tax-rate payer and even less, £6 if you are higher tax-rate payer.

  • Annual Leave

For the majority of our roles we offer 25 days holiday a year plus bank holidays, and an extra day for Christmas Eve. You can choose to use the religious bank holidays flexibly.
