Summer Internship



  • Internships typically start in June and run through August/September.
  • Global Health Labs is seeking a graduate-level Summer Intern to join a dynamic Executive Office to be responsible for the roll out of an internal curriculum and development program aimed at improving communication of scientific concepts to broad audiences.

Role Summary:

  • We are seeking a motivated and innovative Intern to serve as our inaugural Narrative Officer at Global Health Labs.  In this role, you will help us implement training material to GH Labs associates and other summer interns that improve their ability to communicate clearly and succinctly to audiences with different levels of technical and scientific experience.  You will coordinate training events held during the time of the internship, work with our external partner who conducts our training sessions, and you will organize and lead a workshop with the other summer interns at Global Health Labs to help them with their own scientific communications skills. This includes coordinating the end-of-program presentation seminar series in which all of our interns participate.
  • In addition, you will support the Office of the Executive Director on developing internal communications to be shared with employees, help initiate an internal newsletter, and contribute to a robust internal communication function that serves the whole organization. 


  • Undergraduate education in scientific communication, rhetoric, or journalism. Currently enrolled or planning to start a graduate program in scientific communication or a related field.
  • Experienced in developing effective means for communication across technical audiences
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Organized and skilled at documenting work for the benefit of others.
  • Worked successfully in collaborative team environments to support overall team goals.
  • Experience and proficiency in using SharePoint to create and manage shared company information via an intranet is preferred.
  • Strong interest in our global health mission.

  • Coordinate internal communication trainings for GH Labs employees and summer interns
  • Conduct assessments of effective tools for tracking progress of improvement in communication training.
  • Build effective communications components (e.g. newsletters, internal systems and tools) that can enhance the leadership team‚Äôs ability to effectively communicate to all employees.
