What is the duration of the internship?
The internship runs from May to August.
What type of educational background is required for this internship?
A high school diploma and a BS degree in progress in an engineering, science, or related field are required. The ideal candidate will have less than one year remaining to complete their BS or MS degree.
What kind of training will I receive during the internship?
You will receive an introduction into the construction materials testing industry, assist field and laboratory personnel, and shadow the materials testing team. The internship also includes mentorship and planned learning activities.
Will I have opportunities for professional development?
Yes, you will have the chance to learn and advance technically while being provided with opportunities for professional development throughout the internship.
Is there a presentation component to the internship?
Yes, you will develop a presentation at the end of the summer to present to the executive leadership team about what you learned during your time in the intern program.
Are there any certification requirements for soil testing procedures?
You will understand soil test procedures (ASTM, DOT, COE, etc.) during your internship, but no prior certification is mentioned as a requirement for application.
Will I gain experience in project management?
Yes, during the internship, you will learn the basics of project management.
