Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills – able to engage with and collaborate with others through effective communication, organization and prioritization
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Familiarity of or experience with Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Interest in exploring a career in Health Science or Public Policy
  • The Must-Haves:  
  • You have a passion for people, building deep relationships and fixing things and would like to gain experience with identifying concerns and recommending equitable solutions.
  • You are driven by serving others and have demonstrated experience in community engagement and volunteerism.
  • You will be a rising Senior at an accredited university or college in May 2024.
  • You’re available to work 40 hours per week for 10 weeks from May 20 – July 26, 2024.
  • You will be located in North Carolina during the internship program.
  • You’re legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • The County Engagement team works to deepen county relationships and understand unique local perspectives to provide the best service and support to agencies, organizations and individuals in all 100 North Carolina counties. As a County Engagement Intern, you will have the opportunity to work with a variety of community entities, including faith-based organizations, government agencies and non-profits. You’ll assist in public health project development and program evaluation while learning about public health structure at the county level. In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in local listening sessions and network with local leaders.
