Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD program in biochemistry, molecular biology, or other life science program.
  • Skilled in coherent experimental design and execution, with strong, practical laboratory skills in biochemistry or molecular biology.
  • Experience with kinetic assays, enzymes/proteins, or assay development is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated capacity to utilize and maintain a wide array of biology laboratory instrumentation and systems.
  • Previous experience working in a BSL2 laboratory and familiarity with biological safety practices.
  • Excellent data analysis skills, including use of software such as Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to maintain accurate written records.
  • Passion for experimentation, teamwork and making advancements in scientific knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Design, execute, interpret results from, and troubleshoot laboratory experiments, with input from mentors, team peers, and directors.
  • Explore feasibility of molecular assay concepts and strategies, specifically methodologies employing molecular amplification of nucleic acids coupled to enzymatic reporting and detection on instruments and lateral flow devices.
  • Carefully document experiments and communicate results to team and other members of the organization outside the team.
  • Consistently maintain a safe working environment with good housekeeping practices.
