Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher with an expectation that you will complete your most recent full-time degree program by August 2026 or earlier (for example: If you are graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in May 2025 and are also currently enrolled in a full-time Master’s degree program with an expected graduation date of May 2026, then your most recent full-time degree program is your Master’s degree)
  • Must be continuing in the same course of study of your most recent full-time degree program following completion of the internship
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelors or higher in a technical and/or quantitative discipline, including computer science, computer engineering, cyber security, information assurance, information systems, information technology, or mathematics
  • Desire to pursue a career in cybersecurity
  • Understanding of cyber security concepts such as: operating systems analysis (MS Windows/MacOS) and network forensics (Kali Linux)
  • Knowledge of the basics of network security and protocols (e.g., encryption, firewalls, authentication, honey pots, perimeter protection)
  • Coursework in IT fundamentals, cloud security, cryptography, network security, and/or database security
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, problem solving and conceptual skills
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
  • Working level programming skills or experience in one or more of the following areas: Java, Python, C#, C/C++, JSON, Visual Basic, SQL, PL/SQL, Shell scripts

Responsibilities

  • - Assessing, challenging and advising on infrastructure, network, platform, and software security services in the cloud
  • - Defending networks to analyze any security risk
  • - Installing firewalls and encryptions
  • - Monitoring systems for any breach
  • - Performing tests on networks and probing their security
  • - Coming up with ways to defend the system against any vulnerabilities
  • - Managing and maintaining the upkeep of a computer network within Capital One
  • - Collaborating closely with associates in Cyber, Technology, the lines of business, and risk management offices
  • - Evaluating and making recommendations to bolster and secure Capital One’s cybersecurity
  • - Exploring different roles, teams, and technologies while zeroing in on the career that's right for you
