Requirements

  • Essential:
  • Knowledge of, and some previous experience of using CATIA V5 and AutoCAD Lt
  • Computer literate in MS Office Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
  • Desirable:
  • Experience working within the Aviation Industry.
  • Computer literate in Google Suite (G-Mail, Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google docs etc.)
  • Education, Qualifications or Training:
  • Essential:
  • To be completing an industrial placement for Oxford Brookes University
  • KPI’s:
  • Effective communicator within the Design Office mechanical team and other internal departments
  • Efficient use of CATIA V5, AutoCAD LT and Microsoft Office tools, although training will be provided as necessary.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, requesting guidance and support when required.
  • Ability to grasp and embrace new design concepts quickly
  • Developing cost effective design solutions to technical and commercial requirements placed on the design office
  • Support department objectives
  • Developing technical knowledge and design skills
  • About you:
  • Excellent communication skill; written and verbal.
  • Ability to communicate and negotiate internally and externally at all levels.
  • Commercially aware.
  • Team player with the ability to work effectively under pressure on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • A reliable person capable of producing high quality documentation.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and being able to full-fill the role required by the team even when that role may vary from project to project.
  • Well developed problem solving skills and the ability to assess evidence and develop conclusions based on that evidence in a logical and structured fashion
  • Additional requirements:
  • Due to the nature of this position you will require DBS Security Clearance and be eligible for SC clearance.
  • Applicants must meet any/all requirements of Export Compliance Regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Developing cost effective design solutions to technical and commercial requirements placed on the design office
  • Undertaking mechanical design i.a.w. the design office procedures as directed by the Chief Mechanical Design Engineer or his Deputy
  • To develop a set of skills to allow progression to Mechanical design Engineer role with support from team members
  • Keeping up to date with new technological advances
  • Gaining an understanding or certification requirements for Mechanical designs
