Requirements

  • Attending an accredited educational institution pursuing an undergraduate degree
  • Interest in one or more of the following areas:
  • Disaster and Climate Resilience; Long-term Recovery and sustainable solutions
  • Serving those historically excluded and underserved communities
  • Policy and legislature analysis, development, assessment, and evaluation
  • Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA with at least 60 hours of coursework completed
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Willing to travel 40-50% of internship to numerous sites
  • Must have experience with MS Office software, including but not limited to MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint
  • Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills
  • Must be a self-starter, excel in time management, and work well under pressure
  • Must be available to work in various settings such as in office or remotely, depending on department needs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform research and conduct policy analysis on resilience topics working in collaboration with other team members
  • Works with team members to ensure that APTIM emergency management program demonstrates a "whole community" approach
  • Support stakeholder outreach, coordination, and communication; support the development of preparedness exercises, training seminars, and client meetings; support administration, and logistics for events
  • Collect and compile a variety of data and information to prepare reports, and assessments
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as scheduling, organizing meetings, and taking notes, preparing meeting materials
  • Write, edit, and proofread documents or sections of documents, such as technical reports and other documents
