  • Our internship program is designed to introduce students to a career in the Design/Build construction industry. Primary responsibility is to assist a project manager to successfully coordinate a project using the necessary engineering, labor, equipment, materials, tools, and subcontracted services. This position requires the development of skills in design, estimating , construction process, workflow and scheduling to better understand the coordination of the design-build construction process. ** Candidates may be assigned to construction projects located in the Great Los Angeles Area and/or CA Central Coast areas**

  • What you’ll gain from our Student Programs at Southland Industries:
  • The ability to read engineering drawings and identify work installed to track labor feedback accurately.
  • Prepare job related logs to include RFIs, submittals, design changes, subcontractor progress/schedules
  • You’ll learn to communicate effectively with engineers, vendors and suppliers to procure, manage and update the submittal process.
  • Learn to write and track Requests for Information (RFI)
  • Gain an understanding of construction processes and workflow
  • Finally, you’ll get your hands dirty!

  • Assist in budget analysis, cost and margin projections, estimate project changes & impacts, etc.
  • Assist in the development and management of project schedules.
  • Assist in estimating the impact of project changes.
  • Assist management of change orders.
  • Assist with assembling of submittal packages and other required project documentation.
  • Assists with procurement of equipment, materials, subcontractors, and other project related services.
  • Support construction team as needed.
