  • The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago is seeking an intern in the Monitoring and Research Department.

  • Educational Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program majoring in Environmental Engineering, Environment Management, or Environmental Science.

  • Letter of recommendation from a class instructor, professor, or Internship Coordinator from current school or university.
  • Cover letter stating interest in position.
  • Resume.
  • Eligibility Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program in an accredited college or university and will be enrolled in the 2024/2025 school year.
  • Permanent residency within the territorial boundaries of the MWRD (students may attend school outside the territorial boundaries).

Responsibilities

  • The intern will assist in identifying facilities that may be subject to Federal Categorical Pretreatment Standards or other large wastewater discharges that may impact the MWRD NPDES permit. In addition, the intern will help to identify dentists that are not currently in the database and follow up with them to submit required compliance documentation. During the internship, the intern will become familiar with water regulations and compliance as well as develop their communication, classification and organization skill set.
