Description

  • Shadow Keeneland’s GM of Facilities, Director of Maintenance, Director of Building Services, Mechanical Superintendent, Electrical Superintendent, and Trades Superintendent as they perform their daily rounds. This internship will provide an inside look to how a racetrack and large equine farm operates behind the scenes. Successful candidates will learn how to read and interpret utility and construction plans, work within and lead small teams, coordinate projects with multiple departments, and provide support to our Mechanical, Electrical, and Trades Departments.

  • Creative and flexible, a proven self-starter.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull or carry up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a weekly rotational group that will be responsible for all construction management, building maintenance, and grounds maintenance associated with Keeneland’s 1,234 acre property.
  • Prepare weekly meeting agendas.
  • Participate in operational planning meetings.
  • Assist with work order management and dispatch.
  • Assist with writing scopes of work, bid solicitation, contract management, and project coordination.
  • Work alongside Keeneland’s mowing, tree, and barn maintenance teams.
  • Assist Keeneland’s MEP staff with preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Assist Keeneland’s Building Services Department with inventory, room conversions, and our recycling program.
  • Become a certified forklift operator.
  • Other duties and assignments as needed.
