Summer Internship

Research & DevelopmentEdinburgh

  • Active learning is learning by doing, applying knowledge and exploring offering new ways to engage and teach students in the School of Biological Sciences. The project would create visual, immersive experiences to teach concepts that are otherwise difficult to convey by traditional methods. Examples would include a game or gamelike demonstration, adventure type games and augmented reality to add information to objects. This will enhance the student experience and learning, by allowing them to work at their own pace and matching their cognitive styles. These resources will be reusable, scalable and would not need staff supervision, all of which will reduce the staff teaching burden while still enhancing the learning experience.

  • Completed a year at the University of Edinburgh in computing or game design
  • Programming, preferably in game design, creating augmented reality or animations
  • Interest in Biology
  • Self motivated
  • Good time management skills
  • Good communication skills
