Requirements

  • Accounting Students: Undergraduate Accounting students will need to maintain a GPA of 2.5 GPA or above throughout the internship.
  • Preferred Areas of Study
  • Enrolled in an accredited certificate, 2-year or 4-year program during their internship.
  • Enrolled in an academic program in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • You will be successful if you have the following experience, skills, and abilities:
  • Be a junior or senior student at the start of the internship.
  • Solid basic understanding of accounting principles
  • Attention to details, quick learning, strong communication skills
  • Strong Excel skills

Responsibilities

  • During this internship, the intern will be specifically responsible for:
  • Prepare assigned account reconciliations. Goal is to maintain account reconciliations current and well documented. Objective is for completion of account reconciliations 2 weeks after monthly closing.
  • Prepare assigned journal entries. Goal is to ensure assigned journal entries are completed and well documented. Objective is for completion within the monthly closing schedule.
  • Perform assigned variance analysis. Goal is to ensure assigned variance analysis are researched and well documented. Objective is to complete within a week after monthly closing and to assist in identifying issues and potential adjustments.
  • Perform assigned documentation of procedures. Goal is to document key processes and maintain current. Objective is to identify efficiencies in daily operations.
  • Assist in creation of annual report and supporting schedules.
  • Perform assigned accounting research for issues and transactions that are identified. Goal is to ensure accounting issues are identified and researched. Objective is to ensure Department accounting issues and related policies are well documented that ensures passing of audit scrutiny.
