Requirements

  • Candidates must be currently pursuing a degree or trade vertification in:
  • Geology
  • Geological and Earth Sciences/Geosciences.
  • Mining Engineering
  • Candidate must also have:
  • valid driver’s license.
  • Prior full-time experience is preferred, not required
  • the ability to learn technical processes, high-level verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment

Responsibilities

  • Interns will enter an approximately 10-week rotational internship program, allowing for ownership of a project, allowing the individual to learn the Aggregates/Ready Mix business and develop professional skills including leadership, time management, and relationship building. The goal of the Internship program is to provide individuals with hands-on experience in Geology/Mining industry and allowing them to explore safety, production, engineering, geology, quality control, sales, administration and so much more.
  • Essential Functions:
  • Adheres to and enforces ethical, safety and environmental measures.
  • Becomes familiar with the operations of an Aggregate Quarry/Ready Mix Plant, understanding the complete production process.
  • Becomes familiar with the traits of high-performing managers in Martin Marietta.
  • Ensures all activities are performed in accordance with the Company’s Mission, Vision, and Values, and in compliance with the Company’s policies, procedures, and Code of Ethical Business Conduct
  • Becomes familiar with the operations of an Aggregate Quarry understanding the complete production process
  • Log cores to modern standards and digitize results
  • Conduct field mapping and field investigations to support development projects
  • Organize and manage exploration data (logs, photos, quality data, databases, etc.)
  • Incorporate field data into deposit models to support operations
  • Participate in Land Management meetings to understand Real Estate and Project Management basics
  • Work with Mine Engineering to utilize geologic models in the mining process
  • Work with Quality Control to understand geologic impacts on final product qualities
