What is the duration of the Geotechnical Engineering Intern position?
The position is for a 4-month term in Summer 2025.
Is the internship position available in multiple locations?
Yes, the position can be based out of one of our offices in Ontario.
What educational background is required for this internship?
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university or college program in Civil or Geological Engineering with an emphasis in Geotechnical Engineering and must have completed at least 1 year of study.
Are recent graduates eligible to apply for this internship?
Yes, recent graduates who have completed their bachelor's degree and plan to pursue a master's degree in the same or similar discipline are eligible to apply, provided they were enrolled in their bachelor’s program in the most previous school term.
What types of tasks will the intern be responsible for?
The intern will support soil laboratory testing, prepare reports of laboratory test results, perform work according to budget and schedule, communicate with team members and clients, and may have opportunities to travel for site investigations or inspections.
Is previous experience in construction administration preferred?
Yes, coop terms of construction administration or related experience within the civil, geological, or geotechnical engineering field are preferred qualifications.
Is a valid driver's license required for this position?
Yes, a valid and unrestricted driver's license is preferred.
Are there any relocation or sponsorship options for this internship?
No, relocation and sponsorship are not available for this position.
What skills are emphasized for a successful candidate?
Good written communication, time management, organizational skills, demonstrated interpersonal skills, high initiative, enthusiasm, and proficiency with the MS Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word, are emphasized.
What kind of work environment can interns expect?
Interns can expect a dynamic work environment with hybrid work options, allowing them to work from an AECOM office, remote location, or client site.
