Requirements

  • Minimum Requirements:
  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university or college program in Civil or Geological Engineering with emphasis in Geotechnical Engineering and must have completed at least 1 year of study. Candidates who have recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the master’s degree are eligible to apply for this position. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Coop terms of construction administration, or related experience within the civil, geological or geotechnical engineering field.
  • Willing and interested in working overtime and weekends.
  • Valid and unrestricted driver's license.
  • Good written communication, time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills; conduct yourself with integrity, work within multi-disciplined teams, deal with complex issues, and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Have a high level of initiative and enthusiasm for getting things done.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite; excellent knowledge of Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

  • Support the soil laboratory testing (Atterberg limits, Sieve Hydrometer, etc.).
  • Prepare reports of laboratory test results.
  • Perform work in accordance with projected budget and schedule under supervision.
  • Communicate effectively with others within the team and with internal and external clients.
  • You will have an opportunity to travel for site investigations or site inspections.
  • Be able to learn and operate a nuclear field densometer.
