What is the role of a Gift Aid Volunteer?
The Gift Aid Volunteer helps improve Gift Aid sign-ups in the charity shop, informs customers about Gift Aid, assists other retail volunteers with correct processes, and contributes to fundraising efforts.
Is this a paid position?
No, this is an unpaid voluntary position.
What are the age requirements to volunteer?
We are unable to accept volunteers aged under 16.
Can individuals with unspent criminal convictions volunteer?
No, we cannot accept volunteers with unspent criminal convictions.
What typical tasks will I be responsible for?
Typical tasks include promoting Gift Aid on the shop floor, inputting Gift Aid data, sorting and pricing Gift Aided donations, helping train volunteers, and looking for new opportunities to generate Gift Aid donations.
What benefits do volunteers receive?
Volunteers receive a 25% discount on donated goods, a 10% discount on new goods, access to training and development, reasonable travel expense reimbursement, refreshments, volunteer certificates, references, and access to discounts with other retailers.
How much time do I need to commit as a volunteer?
We ask for a few hours a week or a couple of hours occasionally, making volunteering flexible and accessible.
Is there support available for volunteers?
Yes, volunteers will have the support of the shop team and can also access unlimited, free, and confidential support by Retail Trust.
What is the importance of Gift Aid for the charity?
Gift Aid allows the charity to reclaim tax on donations from UK taxpayers, enabling them to receive 25% more from the government on every gift-aided item sold, at no extra cost to the donor.
What kind of training will I receive as a volunteer?
Volunteers will have access to training and development related to Gift Aid procedures and other relevant areas within the charity shop context.
