Requirements

  • Must be/recently been in a graphic design program and or a self-taught program
  • Must have a portfolio of work in Graphic Design / Branding ready to show (spec work/college work is completely ok)
  • Ability to work under pressure and know when to ask for help
  • Must have proficient knowledge of the main Adobe suite programs (photoshop, illustrator, and in-design)
  • Has a good understanding of Canva and or Figma (or a similar cloud-based program) (our cross-team work-flow includes Canva)
  • Is organized and can communicate needs in order to meet deadlines
  • Professional demeanor and appearance
  • Strong commitment and passion for GLAAD’s mission and core values
  • Education:
  • The ideal candidate is anyone interested in working with us, an undergraduate/graduate student in Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing, or other related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Small, one-off design tasks to help Creative Services run smoothly in creating content across all GLAAD teams.
  • Help hold GLAAD’s brand guidelines up to standards by monitoring the Creative Service’s internal slack channel and managing design approvals from other GLAAd teams.
  • If appropriate, the Design Intern may also be tasked with helping more senior designers complete bigger projects such as Spirit Day Assets, GLAAD Media Awards assets, and other content-heavy projects.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned
  • This is a remote role, but if located in NYC, it will be hybrid and may, at times, function out of the NYC office location.
  • Mandatory workshop sessions will be scheduled. Interns must attend these events. If they cannot participate, they should connect with their managers.
