What is the location of the internship?
The internship is based out of our Petaluma, California office.
What is the duration of the internship?
The internship is intended for the complete summer break, either from May to August or June to September.
Are there any educational requirements for this internship?
Yes, candidates must be currently enrolled in a college degree program in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, with preference given to Junior or Senior students.
What skills are required for this internship?
Required skills include excellent MS Office skills (particularly MS Excel), strong scripting skills using Python or a similar language, a fundamental knowledge of electronic components, and the ability to read and understand hardware schematics.
What kind of experience is preferred for applicants?
Preference will be given to applicants who have prior work experience related to the field.
Will I be working individually or as part of a team?
The role involves working well in both individual and team settings.
What type of projects will I be involved in during the internship?
Interns will assist the Hardware Engineering team in the design, testing, and debugging of Calix hardware designs, as well as collecting and analyzing data in a hardware lab environment.
Is there an opportunity for hands-on experience in a lab environment?
Yes, interns should be comfortable working in a hands-on lab environment as part of their responsibilities.
Is compensation for the internship the same across all locations?
No, compensation varies based on geographical location and is determined by the candidate's location of residence, skills, experience, and education.
What is the pay range for the internship?
The average base pay range for the position is $32.20 to $40.25 hourly for the San Francisco Bay Area and $28.00 to $35.00 hourly for all other locations.
