Requirements

  • Experience with applying research methods and documentation of scientific literature
  • Familiarity with or interest in diversity, equity and inclusion inclusive to health equity
  • Demonstrates influence and strong written and verbal communication
  • Resourceful, goal-oriented, forward thinking and a willingness to learn, adjust and adapt to drive deliverables and outcomes
  • The Must-Haves:  
  • You’re strategic with knowledge of or experience with research/information gathering, analyzing problems, identifying solutions, process improvement and project management.
  • You have a passion for people and fixing things and would like to gain experience with identifying member health concerns and recommending solutions.
  • You will graduate from an accredited university or college with a Master’s in December 2024 or May 2025. 
  • You’re available to work 40 hours per week for 10 weeks from May 20 – July 26, 2024.
  • You will be located in North Carolina during the internship program.
  • You’re legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • The Health Equity Strategy team lives and breathes our Blue Cross NC mission in providing better health care for all. We build processes to identify and prioritize health inequities to helping our cross-functional teams enhance or develop new programs to close disparities. We work to provide the expertise and support to ensure our members have the most equitable care. As a Health Equity Strategy Intern, you will provide significant support in building background literature review and documentation in multiple facets of Health Equity (Health Equity value story, health literacy, maternal health disparities, etc.) as well as developing collateral that will help employers and key stakeholders understand the imperative of advancing health equity and developing projects impacting our Health Equity strategy.
