Requirements

  • A current 2nd, 3rd or penultimate year undergraduate University of Edinburgh student
  • An interest in equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Good communication skills with a range of audiences (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience of project planning and working to timescales
  • Experience of researching and collating information

Responsibilities

  • Working with the Director of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and the School’s Decolonising the Curriculum working group contribute to the creation of a School strategy and action plan for ‘decolonisation’. (20%)
  • Liaise with Course Organisers and other colleagues to explore the actions that are being taken to decolonise teaching including course content and delivery. This may include assisting with the development of a short survey or questions to support reflection and the collation and analysis of the responses. (30%)
  • Research examples of best practice or action being taken across the University. (10%)
  • Design of communications and / or events to raise awareness of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and Decolonising the Curriculum activity (20%)
  • Assist with and contribute to other Equality, Diversity and Inclusion initiatives and activities in the School as agreed with the Director of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (this may involve assisting in moving forward on actions from the recently developed School Athena Swan action plan). (20%)
