What is the schedule for the Hospital Pharmacy Intern position?
The position is PRN and requires availability every 3rd weekend (Saturday and Sunday) from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
What are the primary responsibilities of the Pharmacy Intern?
The Pharmacy Intern assists pharmacists in interpreting and processing physicians' orders, dispensing medication, compounding IV admixtures, distributing medications, and providing medication education to patients.
Is a Pharmacy Intern License required for this position?
Yes, an active Pharmacy Intern License from the State Board of Pharmacy is required.
What kind of education is required for the Hospital Pharmacy Intern role?
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and be actively enrolled in an accredited college of pharmacy.
Will I receive training in this position?
While no prior experience or training is required, the intern will have opportunities to train and educate new pharmacy technicians, students, and interns.
What qualifications are preferred besides the pharmacy intern license?
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is preferred.
What patient populations will I be working with?
The Pharmacy Intern will demonstrate knowledge and skills for providing care to neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
