  • Interns will also perform administrative tasks such as completing applications for services on behalf of clients, assisting the Housing Specialists with administrative work and providing education and orientation to clients as needed. This position reports to the Resettlement Housing Supervisor.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Upon successful completion of this internship opportunity, interns will have developed comprehensive skills in various aspects of client-focused administrative responsibilities. By the conclusion of this internship, participants will have acquired a diverse set of skills, ranging from administrative tasks to cultural competency and advocacy, preparing them for future roles in client services and support. Intern will learn and specialize in Section 8 housing.

  • Attend Volunteer/Intern Orientation
  • Be trained in, oversee and assist in the client application process for the Housing Choice (HUD/Section 8) program, provide coordination of the application and approval process between IRC programs and City of Wichita Housing Program.
  • Provide classroom Cultural Orientation delivery to clients with the assistance of a translator.
  • Advocate for clients during delivery of needed services; represent IRC in a professional manner.
  • Record hours and submit completed timesheet for each month via the IRC’s online Volunteer Dashboard.
