Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering required
  • 2 years of PhD studies (preferred)
  • Ideal Candidate:
  • Electrical engineering Ph.D student with emphasis on power systems
  • Strong experience with modeling and fault ride through behavior of inverter based resources
  • Strong experience with electromagnetic transients simulation tools (preferably PSCAD)
  • Strong programming skills (preferably Python and Matlab)

Responsibilities

  • The student will support the EPRI team by conducting simulations with electromagnetic transients simulation tools (e.g. PSCAD) to analyze the fault response of inverter based resources (IBRs) and assess the performance of various protective relay functions.
