Requirements

  • We do not expect applicants to have studied actuarial science, but they should be curious to learn about insurance. Alongside this, we look for the following attributes in our interns:
  • Studying towards a relevant numerical degree with statistical content (e.g., Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Economics, Physics).
  • Analytical – Our roles require a great deal of problem-solving and so we need to be able to think of solutions given the resources and data that we have.
  • Decisive – A consultant gives expert advice within a technical or professional field and so we must be able to make clear and informed choices.
  • Supportive – We expect 4mosters to be inclusive, compassionate and helpful.
  • Honest – We do not always know the answer, but we will find it! We expect you to be transparent in your approach and demonstrate integrity.
  • Self-motivated – We are always striving to improve and so it is important that you are keen to develop both yourself and 4most alike.

Responsibilities

  • The 10-week internship programme will be split into 2 parts:
  • Part 1 - will cover sector background information, regulations, interactive coding workshops and independent practice assignments.
  • Part 2 - will be a practical project either working individually or as part of a team where you will have the opportunity to apply your technical and soft skills. You will also showcase your consulting abilities by presenting your results to senior 4mosters at the end of the project.
  • All interns are assigned a ‘buddy’ (usually a recent graduate) for the full duration of the internship programme who will be able to support them and answer questions about the tasks/assignments and working at 4most in general.
  • Informative sessions:
  • Includes high-level introductions to insurance and insurance products, Solvency II, IFRS 17, introduction to modelling languages for insurance, modelling in Excel, economics overview, model validation and an introduction to credit risk.
  • Technical workshops:
  • Interactive workshops covering Excel and R.
  • Learning basic data steps/manipulation, data investigation and analysis, understanding and writing macros and basic model creation.
  • Assignments:
  • Interns will be given short assignments to complete which relate to the theory and technical workshops covered.
  • Project:
  • The final segment of the internship allows the interns to put all skills and knowledge learnt towards a project which involves research, analysis, creative problem solving and presenting a solution with supported rationale.
  • Graduate progression:
  • Successfully showcasing your skills through the 10-week internship could land you a place on our Insurance Graduate programme at 4most. This is where you will translate the technical and soft skills you have learned through the internship to the next stage of your career

Application Process

  • CV review and application form
  • We will assess your CV and the answers you provided to our application questions.
  • Online assessments
  • These will allow you to demonstrate your Excel, critical thinking and numerical skills through three short tasks.
  • Telephone interview
  • This stage allows us to get to know you through a 30-minute session with a 4moster. This also gives you an opportunity to get to know us.
  • Face-to-face interview
  • The final stage is a face-to-face interview at our London office with two 4mosters. This is also a chance for you to see who we are as a company and to ask any questions you might have!
