Description

  • We are currently hiring graduate interns to join our AutonomyNM Institute.
  • We are looking for interns with a passion for research in autonomous systems, machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, algorithm development, neural networks, computer vision/image processing, sensing and perception, localization, sensor fusion, high-fidelity dynamic simulation, and aerospace navigation/guidance/control software and hardware development. Our program is interdisciplinary and welcomes students in any STEM major related to the tasks above.

Requirements

  • Qualifications We Require:
  • You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:
  • Earned bachelor's degree
  • Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited science, engineering, or math graduate program
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
  • Ability to work up to 30 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Qualifications We Desire:
  • Please apply if you have at least two of the following:
  • Proficiency in a programming language such as C++, Python, Matlab, or Julia
  • Experience with Navigation, Guidance, and Control (NGC/GNC) technologies
  • Experience with machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, computer vision/image processing, etc
  • Familiarity with sensor phenomenology such as optical, EO/IR, multispectral, radar, accelerometers, gyroscopes, magnetometers, acoustic sensors, geophones, etc
  • Expertise in digital signal processing, embedded systems, FPGA, VHDL/Lucid, sensor fusion, ROS, Linux, or optimization/operations research.
  • Research experience in a niche topic such as nonlinear robust/optimal control, multi-agent reinforcement learning, GPS-denied navigation, software-defined radio, synthetic aperture radar, human-machine interaction, physics-informed neural network, neuromorphic computing, or such other reserach topic that will advance GNC.
  • We highly desire an ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy secret clearance, and an undergraduate GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Responsibilities

  • AutonomyNM interns work with expert staff in research and development of autonomous systems from stationary to hypersonic applications, from a single vehicle to swarms. Examples of tasks include developing algorithms, developing software, coding at various levels from high level to assembly, integrating processors (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, GPU) into flight hardware, programming robots, performing system ID of drones, generating trajectories, flying drones, analyzing test data, modeling/simulating dynamic systems, etc. Mentoring and training will be provided.
