  • Sandia National Laboratories’ Department of Bioresource and Environmental Security in California seeks to hire an intern to work on research with goals to optimize nutrient utilization and biomass generation in attached algae flow ways. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team and support exciting research using a wide range of molecular biology, microbiology, engineering, and analytical skills to address important challenges in bioenergy and environmental remediation. You will be guided by a technical mentor and work closely with a team of researchers and interns on issues of national significance.


  • Currently attending and enrolled full time in the spring term immediately preceding the internship (or scheduled to graduate in the spring) in an accredited undergraduate program
  • Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
  • Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer
  • U.S. citizen, asylee, refugee, or lawful permanent resident of the U.S.
