Description

  • Our Construction Management team is currently seeking Internship candidates for work on a variety of transportation/infrastructure construction projects. Working under close supervision of senior construction engineers, this individual will assist the project team with construction observation, field inspection, reports and project documentation, as well as various administrative duties pertaining to the engineering profession.

Requirements

  • Candidates must have completed two (2) academic years of college engineering classes, working toward BSCE.
  • Work is performed at various construction sites across Northern Illinois. Candidate will be responsible for transportation to and from the project site assigned.
  • Individuals must have the ability to perform basic calculations for the purpose of determining yield, quantities, etc.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safe work practices is required.
  • Organization and attention to detail is required.
  • Client focused, always striving to give clients the best solutions.
  • High levels of integrity, always doing the right thing in an ethical, fair, and sustainable way.
  • Demonstrated experience of collaboration in a diverse and inclusive team, working together toward technical excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Inspection and oversight of construction activities.
  • Measurement and documentation of construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications.
  • Coordinate activities with onsite inspectors and inform Resident Engineer of construction progress, and potential problem areas.
  • Apply standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out tasks as part of a broader assignment.
  • Inspect materials coming onto project site and monitor contractor’s work progress and schedule.
  • Perform contract documentation duties, which may include field measurements of pay items as well as daily inspection reports.
  • Assist in company BUILD activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
