Requirements

  • Required:
  • Ability to work in a lab environment debugging circuits and evaluating product spec compliance using tools including oscilloscopes, power meters, multimeters, logic analyzers, and firmware interface tools
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Windows-based platforms and with computer-based design and analysis tools, working knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to meet schedule requirements and define priorities without direct supervision
  • Preferred:
  • Familiarity with CAD tools, for schematics, analysis, and modeling/simulation
  • History of firmware programming for embedded systems is a plus
  • Ability to work with serial communication protocols such as UART, SPI and I2C
  • Education:
  • Candidates working towards a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 40 credits towards an Electrical Engineering (BSEE), or Computer Engineering (BSCE) degree, or equivalent
  • Candidates working towards MS or Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering. Preference will be given to those with a Power Electronics and/or Controls focus, but other fields consistent with Advanced Energy’s needs will also be considered
  • GPA > 3.25

Responsibilities

  • Candidates may perform and support design activities related to any of the following:
  • Active participant in a core team to meet schedule, cost, and customer satisfaction goals
  • Assisting in the development, testing, and de-bugging of prototype power supply units
  • Analyze test data and reports against functional and performance specifications
  • Interfacing with internal departments to ensure cost and schedule goals are met
  • Circuit design of analog and digital circuits, EMI filters, and power circuits
  • Development and implementation of control algorithms
  • Design and analysis of magnetic components
  • Modeling and simulation of devices, circuits or systems using commercial or proprietary tools
