Requirements

  • A combination of education and directly related experience equal to two (2) years; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
  • Other Job Requirements:
  • No living allowance
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Basic knowledge of:
  • Performing hand and computer calculations for foundations, concrete, and steel structures
  • Mathcad and/or Microsoft Excel for structural calculations
  • Wind and seismic loading in structural calculations
  • Discipline codes and standards
  • Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Typically has one (1) year of field construction experience
  • Ability to speak/read multiple languages
  • Basic computer and software skills to include the use of word processing and email as well as the basic use of spreadsheets
  • Progress towards an accredited Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering

Responsibilities

  • The purpose of this position is to use established practices and guidelines applying educational knowledge of design engineering principles as listed. This position supports the Area Lead or Lead on assigned projects and, under direct supervision, performs routine aspects of engineering assignments, applying basic engineering principles.
  • Perform and check routine calculations, specify simple equipment, and solve problems of simple engineering complexity
  • Participate in equipment and material procurement activities
  • Adhere to industry codes and standards as well as department practices and procedures
  • Organize and prioritize multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Other duties as assigned
