Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or advanced degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Welding Engineering, or similar, from an accredited college or university
  • Rising Junior or Senior level student in good academic standing
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team towards a goal
  • Excellent organization and personal time management skills, ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess effective problem solving and critical thinking skills; ability to be creative and resourceful when needed
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite products (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous classroom and/or work experience in one or more of the following areas: (welding, metalworking, fabrication)
  • Interest in or aptitude to learn about careers in the heavy equipment industry
  • Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar design software.
  • Experienced/exposure to robotics and programming.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an understanding of the welding processes utilized at Komatsu.
  • Utilize design software to organize work centers, fabricate tool organizers, and welding fixtures.
  • Assist Welding manager in writing work instructions and weld procedure development.
  • Work with purchasing and outside vendors on tooling, testing material and welding consumables procurement.
  • Learn basics of robotic welding and how they are programmed.
  • Learn the fundamentals of welding processes used at Komatsu
